Ammoudi Bay

Ammoudi Bay is a quaint and peaceful location situated in the Cyclades, away from the dense and busy tourist areas in Oia. It is a cliff-facing destination, requiring navigation of many steps to reach the bay. Visitors are advised to bring plenty of water and sunscreen during the summer months. For those who prefer not to walk, donkeys are available as luggage porters, and taxis are also an option for transportation.

The bay is known for its natural beauty, including crystal clear waters that make it a popular spot for sunset viewing. Many sunset cruises end in the bay, adding to its charm. The bay is also home to a few select dining spots, known for their fresh seafood.

Visitors can reach the bay via various modes of transportation, including Uber, cab, van, or catamaran. However, be prepared for potential traffic jams, especially during peak hours. The walk down to the bay and the climb back up can be challenging, and it is recommended to wear sneakers or shoes with good tread to avoid slipping. There are also donkey piles to avoid towards the bottom of the steps.

The bay can get crowded, especially when cruise ships dock. It can take a long time to get from the harbour to the city on top of the mountain, and waiting lines for the Cable car can be long. Alternatives to the cable car include taking a donkey ride, walking, or taking a boat ride to another part of the island and returning by touring car.
