Bang Niang Beach

Bang Niang Beach is a picturesque beach located in the region of Khaolak. The beach is known for its stunning sunsets, making it a popular spot for evening relaxation. The beach is divided into two halves, with the northern side extending up to the northern headland. Despite suffering devastation from the Boxing Day tsunami, the area has seen significant recovery, although some rebuilding work is still ongoing on the beachfront.

The beach is not ideal for swimming due to the rough seas, but it offers a serene environment for visitors. However, due to the presence of hotels, public access to the beach is not always available everywhere. The small town of Bang Niang, which is within walking distance, offers additional amenities, including a night market open on select days and a variety of bars and restaurants.

The beach is also in proximity to the Tsunami Memorial, which features a police launch that was washed inland during the tsunami. This serves as a poignant reminder of the natural disaster and offers a humbling experience for visitors. In addition, the area offers a variety of day trips to nearby attractions such as the Surin Islands.
