Boathaven Beach

Boathaven Beach is a picturesque destination located in Airlie Beach, a popular tourist hotspot in Australia. Known for its captivating views of the turquoise ocean, sailboats, and the surrounding hills of Conway National Park, this man-made beach is a sight to behold.

The beach is famous for its 60,000 cubic meters of soft, white sand and warm, crystal clear water. One of its distinguishing features is the large net set up in the water to keep marine stingers at bay. This makes it one of the safest places in Airlie Beach for ocean swimming, particularly between November and May when stingers are common. However, visitors are still advised to wear a stinger suit during this period as no stinger net can guarantee absolute protection.

Despite its allure, Boathaven Beach is typically not overcrowded, providing a serene environment for relaxation. It is an ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming, and family picnics. However, visitors should note that it is not the best location for sunset viewing due to mountain obstructions.

Boathaven Beach is easily accessible, being just a two-minute drive or a ten-minute walk from downtown Airlie Beach. There is a paved sidewalk that leads directly to the beach, making it convenient for pedestrians. For those who prefer to drive, there is ample public parking available near the beach.

In terms of amenities, the beach is equipped with public bathrooms and a shower facility. However, there are no other facilities on the beach itself. Visitors are therefore advised to bring along their food and water, although shops and restaurants can be found in the nearby town.

Airlie Beach, where Boathaven Beach is located, is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Besides enjoying the beach, tourists can also explore the town, dine at local eateries, go hiking, or take day trips on the mainland. The town is also known for its vibrant nightlife and serves as a popular starting point for sailing tours and snorkeling trips in the Great Barrier Reef.
