Bottle Beach

Bottle Beach, also known as Haad Khuat, is located in the northeastern part of Koh Phangan, an island in Thailand. This beach is known for its serene and somewhat secluded atmosphere, making it a popular destination among long-term visitors and enthusiasts of the island.

The natural characteristics of Bottle Beach contribute to its appeal. It is surrounded by a lush, mountainous cove and boasts a wide, golden shoreline. The beach is somewhat narrow and has a steep gradient, allowing for swimming even at low tide. However, there is no coral to explore due to unfavorable conditions.

The beach offers a few amenities to its visitors. There are a few restaurants located on the beach, providing visitors with the option to dine. There is also a viewpoint that visitors can hike to, which offers a different perspective of the island. This hike, which is approximately 2-3 kilometers long, takes visitors through the jungle. It should be noted that the internet connection at the beach is limited, with Wi-Fi being available only at the restaurant.

Access to Bottle Beach is somewhat limited due to its inaccessibility. It can be reached by a boat taxi from Chaloklum, but boats can only navigate in calm seas. During bad weather, visitors may get stranded for a day or two. Alternatively, visitors can reach the beach by a 4x4 vehicle through a mud offroad, but this route is not recommended for those without a 4x4 vehicle. Another option is to hike to the beach, although this route is steep and slippery, and it is recommended to wear sneakers.

The number of visitors to Bottle Beach varies, with some periods being more crowded than others. Despite this, the beach has managed to maintain its cleanliness. It's worth noting that due to its inaccessibility, visitors tend to stay longer than a week, contributing to a laid-back and old-school vibe.
