Carlyon Bay is a beach situated in the county of Cornwall in the United Kingdom, measuring nearly 2 miles in length. The beach consists of coarse sand known as "stent" and is divided into three sections, namely Crinnis, Shorthorn, and Polgaver. Among these sections, Crinnis is the most frequented by visitors.
Previously, Carlyon Bay was known as St Austell's most popular beach due to the presence of Cornwall Coliseum, a large entertainment venue that ceased operations in 2003. Despite plans to redevelop the site, the absence of consensus among concerned parties has stalled any progress.
The beach has parking facilities nearby with a capacity of 1000 vehicles, and pay and display arrangements are in place. Visitors can access the beach via steps leading down from the parking area.
