Damatria Beach

Damatria Beach, also known locally as Paralia Damatria, is a stunning coastal area located in the southern region of Karpathos island. The beach is nestled near the village of Kipi Afiarti (Afiartis), approximately 4 kilometers from the island's airport and 15 kilometers from the settlement of Pigadia. Despite being concealed by the surrounding hills, the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Damatria Beach are visible from the main road connecting Amoopi and the airport.

The beach itself is characterized by a unique blend of white pebbles and golden sand. Its seabed is shallow, making it an ideal spot for those who are not confident swimmers. The beach is also protected from the western winds by limestone cliffs in the background, although at times, the sea can become windy.

Damatria Beach is accessible via a narrow 1-kilometer road from a junction at the northernmost houses of Afiartis. Visitors can park their vehicles next to the road, in proximity to the whitewashed walls of a local hotel.

The beach has become increasingly popular among tourists seeking unique beaches in the southern area of Karpathos island. Despite its popularity, the beach tends to be less crowded after midday.

In terms of amenities, Damatria Beach is equipped with parasols and sunbeds for rent. However, it does not have loud beach bars or other tourist services. The beach also lacks facilities such as bathrooms. Despite these minor inconveniences, the beach's tranquil atmosphere, clear waters, and soft sand make it a highly favored destination among visitors.

Off the coast of Damatria Beach, there is a small rocky island known as 'Moira' adorned with ancient ruins. This island, however, can only be accessed via a boat.

The nearest village to Damatria Beach is Kipi Afiarti (Afiartis), which is renowned as a prime windsurfing spot on Karpathos island. The village offers a variety of amenities including surf clubs, taverns, and beach bars.
