Playa del Aljibe de la Cueva

Playa del Aljibe de la Cueva, often referred to as Piedra Playa, is a picturesque beach situated in the southern region of El Cotillo, a town on the island of Fuerteventura. The beach is comprised of several smaller beaches that together extend over 1.5 kilometers. The beach terrain is a blend of fine and coarse golden sand, and it is fully exposed to the sun, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing. Visitors are, however, recommended to bring parasols for extended stays.

The beach is open to the sea, and its robust waves are characteristic of Fuerteventura's west coast. These conditions make Playa del Aljibe de la Cueva a popular location for surfers and kiteboarders. Nevertheless, the beach's substantial size ensures that these activities do not inconvenience other visitors. It is also a serene spot for nudists and a favored location for photography enthusiasts.

The beach is accessible from El Cotillo. Visitors need to head towards Castillo de El Tostón and follow the signs. A dirt road leads to several parking areas along the coastline. From these parking spots, it is a brief 50-meter walk to the beach. Drivers are advised to exercise caution while parking due to the presence of large rocks in the parking area.

The beach is surrounded by a breathtaking cliff, and it's known for its tranquil and harmonious atmosphere. It is not typically crowded, providing a peaceful environment for beachgoers. However, the beach can sometimes be windy, which might not be ideal for relaxation. One of the unique features of Playa del Aljibe de la Cueva is its beautiful sunset, particularly when there are clouds that create a fluctuating and varied atmosphere. The sunset can be enjoyed without even leaving the car, making the beach a perfect spot to end the day.
