Cala del Mallorquí

Cala del Mallorquí, also known as Playa del Mallorquí, is a secluded cove situated in Calp, Alicante. The beach is nestled between the Bahía de les Bassetes marina and Cala Calalga, near the starting point of the Benissa Ecological Walk. Despite its location, it often goes unnoticed by passersby, lending to its serene and peaceful atmosphere.

The natural beauty of Cala del Mallorquí is its main attraction. The cove is characterized by rocky formations and very little sand, which contribute to its untouched charm. Stone platforms along the shoreline provide easy access to the water, which is shallow near the shore making it suitable for children. However, visitors should be cautious of sea urchins hiding in the small crevices of the rocks. The clear waters are home to a variety of marine life, including fish and hermit crabs, making it a popular spot for activities such as diving, snorkeling, and fishing.

Despite its beauty, Cala del Mallorquí does not offer any amenities or facilities. It is also not a dog-friendly beach. Visitors are encouraged to carry their own essentials, and practice good civic behavior by cleaning up any trash they generate to preserve the pristine condition of the beach.

Access to Cala del Mallorquí is currently challenging due to a blocked descent path and broken stairs from the trail. Some adventurous visitors have been known to bypass the blockade, however, it is not recommended. The only reliable way to reach the cove is by boat, kayak, or swimming from another point.

Parking near the cove is also difficult due to numerous restricted areas in the surrounding residential zone. The best option is to park at Bassetes and walk along the trail to reach the cove. Despite these challenges, the beach sees a constant ebb and flow of visitors, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to enjoy this hidden gem.
