Plage des Becs

Plage des Becs is a picturesque beach located in the town of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, in the Vendée region of France. This coastal destination is part of the Vendée coast, positioned approximately 7.6 kilometers south of the town center.

The beach is known for its extensive length, spanning 13 kilometers of sandy shores. Its depth is also notable, characterized by fine sand and the presence of two rock banks to the north, which provide an opportunity for shellfish harvesting. However, the once accessible dunes behind the beach are no longer accessible, likely due to preservation efforts.

Plage des Becs is a popular destination among both locals and tourists. It offers a range of water sports activities, with three nautical bases available for enthusiasts. On Friday afternoons, the beach transforms into a boules competition venue, an event organized by local residents that is open to all.

In terms of amenities, the beach offers a lifeguard service during the summer months, ensuring a safe environment for visitors. Additionally, a beach bar is available for those who wish to unwind and enjoy refreshments. The beach is also pet-friendly, inviting visitors to bring their dogs along.

Although the beach is near numerous campsites, it can get quite crowded, especially during peak seasons. Some visitors have also noted that the water quality may not always be pristine. Furthermore, the surrounding area, including the local houses, may not be to everyone's taste.
