Spiaggia di Cartaromana

Spiaggia di Cartaromana is a picturesque beach located in the town of Ischia, Italy, on the eastern side of Ischia island. The beach, stretching over 200 meters, is uniquely recognized for its natural thermal pools heated by hot spring water, offering a relaxing experience to its visitors. These pools, nestled beneath the rocky wall of the Campagnano hill, are protected by rocks that retain the heat and are known for their therapeutic properties and skin-smoothing effects.

The beach is not only renowned for its thermal waters but also for its stunning views of the Castello Aragonese and the Sant'Anna cliffs. The surrounding coastline is worth exploring, with its distinctive rock formations, small coves, and the remnants of the ancient Roman town of Aenaria. Although this town was submerged by the sea due to geological events, a few ancient walls still stand as a testament to its past.

Spiaggia di Cartaromana is a sandy beach that offers various amenities such as beach chairs, umbrellas, showers, toilets, and lifeguards on duty. The beach is suitable for various activities including swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, paddle boating, and kayaking.

Despite its somewhat difficult access, down a windy road and a series of steps, Spiaggia di Cartaromana is less crowded than other beaches. Visitors can park their vehicles in a large parking lot near the beach for a fee. The beach is also unique for its early sunset, which occurs over the mountain around 3 to 4 pm. There are two restaurants near the beach offering food and beverages to the visitors, though they are also welcome to bring their own meals.

However, visitors are urged to keep the beach clean and dispose of any trash they find, as some litter may wash ashore due to the wind. The beach, while offering a distinctive experience, has been suggested to require some improvements to enhance visitor comfort.
