Spiaggia di Punta Aderci is a picturesque stone beach located within the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve in Vasto, Italy. Established in 1998, the reserve spans from Punta Penna Beach to the mouth of the Sinello River, bordering the Costa dei Trabocchi and the coastal town of Vasto, known for its rich history and culture.
The beach is renowned for its diverse colored pebbles and clear, transparent water, making it an ideal spot for diving near the rocks. It is a long, free beach that is well-organized, despite its wild nature. There are no bathrooms, refreshment points, or shaded areas, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own necessities such as rock shoes, umbrellas, and lunch.
Spiaggia di Punta Aderci is also known for its unique features such as trabocchi, wooden platforms that extend towards the sea with long arms to which a net is tied. These complex systems of winches allow for fishing without having to go out to sea with a boat.
The beach is surrounded by a dune environment, home to a variety of flora and fauna, including protected species such as the Fratino. Dolphins and the Halymenia floresia, a beautiful red algae, can also be found in the reserve.
Despite its size, the beach is not typically crowded. Even on busy days, there is usually plenty of room. However, visitors should be aware that wild boars may occasionally visit the beach.
Access to the beach is via a long path that offers a beautiful view from above. Ample free parking is available, and a shuttle service operates every 15 minutes to transport visitors to the beach. Lifeguards are also present for safety.
The reserve is easily accessible and well connected to regional infrastructure, located near the Port of Vasto. It is about a 10-minute drive from the center of Vasto, following the Statale Nazione 16 in the direction of the north. The recommended exit from the highway is Vasto Nord. The reserve is well signposted and easy to navigate.
