Playa Escondida

Playa Escondida, translating to 'Hidden Beach', is a secluded gem located in the Caribbean region of Puerto Rico. The beach is known for its unique natural characteristics, including its distinctive reddish sand and clear, still waters. The views from the beach are described as spectacular, especially during sunset. To reach Playa Escondida, visitors must first get to Playa Seven Seas, where parking is available. From there, a 25 to 30-minute walk is required, taking visitors through a path that is off the beaten track. This path is an adventure in itself, passing through slippery muddy wetlands and brackish, lizard-infested mangroves. Along the way, visitors may encounter a variety of unique creatures, including large land crabs and single-clawed land crabs. Despite the somewhat challenging journey, the beach offers a relaxing and private experience. Visitors can enjoy watching small fish swim in the shallow end of the water. The beach's secluded nature means it is not typically crowded, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of more popular tourist spots.
