Praia do Fomento

Praia do Fomento, also known as O Vicedo, is a serene beach located in the town of Ovicedo. This urban beach is known for its fine, white sand and calm waves, offering favorable conditions for swimming. The beach stretches over a length of 400 meters, with its width varying between 20 to 50 meters.

The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation, bringing a sense of tranquility and natural beauty to the area. It's worth noting that the beach is not a protected area, and visitors may find varying amounts of algae on the sand depending on the day.

Praia do Fomento offers several amenities to its visitors. A daily cleaning service is provided, ensuring a clean and pleasant environment for beachgoers. However, the beach does not have designated areas for children or sports, and surfing is not possible due to the calmness of the water.

There are food and drink services available in the vicinity of the beach, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely walk after a meal. Despite its location within an urban area, the beach does not have a promenade.

Access to Praia do Fomento is easy for pedestrians, although there is no specific signage indicating the way to the beach. The beach is not adapted for individuals with disabilities. For those traveling by car, parking is available nearby, with a capacity of 50 to 100 spaces. There is also an interurban bus service for those who prefer public transportation.

Despite its various amenities, Praia do Fomento is not typically crowded, even during the peak summer months of July and August. This low level of occupancy contributes to the beach's peaceful atmosphere.

For safety, the beach is monitored by lifeguards. However, there are no danger signs or a Red Cross station, and the beach has not been awarded the Blue Flag distinction.

While the beach does not have a tourist office, there is a telephone available for public use. The nearest hospital, Hospital Da Costa, is located 40 km away in Burela. The Viveiro Marina, another point of interest, is situated 18 km from the beach.
