Gletschermühlen, Trin Mulin is a unique natural attraction located on the Trinser Alp Mora in Switzerland. This site is renowned for its glacial mills or "Gletschermühlen," which are natural bathtubs created by the Maliensbach river rotating large stones, sand, and gravel over hundreds of years. These glacial mills vary in shape, size, and depth, with some being small and almost circular, while others are elliptical and large enough to bathe in.
The most striking collection of these glacial mills is located near Mutta Sura. During the summer months, the crystal-clear water in these tubs warms up, offering visitors a refreshing natural bath. These tubs are perennially filled with water, even when the Maliensbach river is not flowing, making them a year-round attraction.
The region is also known for its Strudeltöpfe, round holes formed by the movement of glaciers, with around 20 of them in this area. The unique landscapes, surrounded by wild mountains and three valleys, make Gletschermühlen a popular spot for photography enthusiasts.
Visitors can access Gletschermühlen by hiking along the former Alpweg trail from Trin to Alp Mora, a round trip that takes approximately five hours. Another option is a more challenging hike from Trin Dorf to Alp Mora, passing through Strudeltöpfe, Muletg, Alp Lavadignas, and Bargis before returning to Trin. This route takes around nine hours to complete. Despite the challenging hikes, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views and the opportunity to bathe in the natural 'jacuzzi' pools.
In addition to its natural features, Gletschermühlen offers amenities for visitors. A restaurant near the area allows visitors to enjoy meals after their hike. Alternatively, visitors can bring their own picnic to enjoy by the small river that runs through the area. Despite the challenging access, Gletschermühlen, Trin Mulin remains a popular attraction for its unique natural features and breathtaking views.
