Hallenbad Lido, located in Brunnen, Schwyz, Switzerland, is a municipally-owned swimming facility with both indoor and outdoor amenities. The indoor facility comprises a 25-meter swimming pool and a non-swimmer pool. The outdoor section, known as Lido, features a sandy beach along Lake Lucerne, making it a popular destination for visitors seeking relaxation and recreation. The Lido area is surrounded by lush greenery, offering a refreshing contrast to its sandy shores. However, the beach can become crowded, particularly on pleasant weather days, and the shore is somewhat rocky, making appropriate footwear a necessity.
The facility underwent a significant renovation between 2010 and 2013, which resulted in an expanded swimming pool and beach area. This project, commissioned by the municipality of Brunnen, won a design competition and resulted in improvements to the structure, a stainless steel pool basin, and modernizations to the changing rooms and facade.
Hallenbad Lido also houses a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a garden terrace with views of Lake Lucerne. The restaurant is open throughout the year, with the exception of Mondays outside of the summer holiday period. The Lido park operates from 9:30 am to midnight from Monday to Saturday and from 8:30 am to midnight on Sundays during the summer.
In terms of accessibility, the facility is wheelchair-friendly and can be reached via public transportation, with the nearest stop being the Hafenstrasse bus stop, located about 200 meters away. For those driving, paid public parking is available. While there are admission fees for the indoor swimming pool, entrance to the Lido park is free.
Despite the popularity of the beach, there are no sun umbrella rentals available, and while smoking is permitted, it is confined to designated areas. Visitors are also advised that, while the beach offers a nice view, it may not be the best spot for a dinner outing, and should plan their visit accordingly.
