Kalo Ampeli

Kalo Ampeli is a beautiful beach located in the southern part of Serifos, Greece, near the village of Livadi. Reaching Kalo Ampeli requires a bit of a hike, starting from Livadi. This journey, which takes approximately 45 minutes, begins with an asphalt road that leads to a parking lot. From this point, visitors will find built stairs that pass by a ravine and eventually turn into a clear trail. This trail ascends smoothly until it reaches the church of Sotiras, known for its folklore festival, before steeply descending to the beach itself.

Despite the challenging access, with some steep sections that require suitable shoes, many visitors find the journey worth it for the beautiful waters and the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunset. Visitors are advised to arrive early for parking at the designated area, known as 'Parking Kalo Ampelu'.

The beach does not offer any amenities such as shade or trees, so visitors are advised to bring their own. While the beach can get crowded at times, its natural beauty and serene atmosphere make it a popular choice among beachgoers. The beach is also protected from the north winds, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a tranquil and secluded environment.

An interesting local mythology surrounding Kalo Ampeli involves the "Garbias" islet at the southern end of the bay, which is believed to be the rock that the blinded Cyclops Polyphemus threw towards Odysseus's ship. This tale adds an intriguing layer of history and culture to the beach's already picturesque scenery.
