Kalogria Beach is a renowned and award-winning beach located near the village of Araxos, in Northwestern Peloponnese, Greece. The beach is situated adjacent to the Kotychi and Strofylia National Park. It is one of the longest sandy beaches in Greece, with a length of approximately 9 kilometers and a width of 80 meters. The beach is a popular destination for both tourists and locals.
The beach is known for its stunning water colors, fine sand, and crystal-clear water, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling. The natural beauty of the beach is further enhanced by the presence of numerous sand dunes that are formed by sea sand moved by the westerly winds and the waves of the Ionian Sea. These dunes can reach heights of up to 10 meters and widths ranging from 20 to 500 meters. The largest sand dune in Peloponnese, and one of the largest in Greece, is located at the northern edge of the beach.
Despite its popularity, the beach can get crowded, especially during peak season. Therefore, it is recommended to visit during the off-peak season. Parking can be a bit challenging, but it is manageable. The beach also offers amenities such as umbrellas and sunbeds for a fee. However, it is advised to arrive early to secure these facilities.
