Kastro Beach

Kastro Beach is a hidden gem located on the northern end of Skiathos Island, approximately 8.5 kilometers from the capital, Skiathos Town. It is notable for its unique natural characteristics, including small black pebbles that replace the typical sandy shoreline, creating a distinctive experience for visitors. The clear waters of the beach are ideal for activities such as snorkeling.

Despite its seclusion, Kastro Beach can become quite busy, especially during peak hours when boats carrying tourists arrive. However, it does not have the amenities that some other beaches might offer, such as sun loungers or water sports facilities. There is a tavern on the beach where visitors can purchase refreshments, and the beach provides fantastic spots for photography, with the view towards the nearby Kastro ruins being particularly captivating.

Reaching Kastro Beach requires a 25-minute car journey from Skiathos Town. However, the road can be somewhat challenging to navigate due to its rocky nature. There is a small car park available, although it is not in close proximity to the beach, meaning visitors will have to walk a distance and navigate some steps to reach the beach. Alternatively, visitors may opt to join organized boat trips that make a stop at the beach.

Despite its beauty and unique features, Kastro Beach may not be ideal for families with young children. This is due to the pebbly entrance to the water and the potential hazards posed by the rocks around the beach. Nonetheless, Kastro Beach offers a distinctive beach experience with its unique pebbly shore and clear waters.
