Korsan Liman Koyu, also known as Kapanca Antik Limanı or Germenicopolis, is an ancient artificial port based in Mudanya, a town located in Bursa, Turkey. The port has a rich history, having been used during the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods, primarily for trade purposes. The Genoese notably used it to ship local crops and salt. In the early days of the Republic of Turkey, it served as a key transportation link between Istanbul and Bursa.
Today, Korsan Liman Koyu is a popular spot for nature enthusiasts, boasting beautiful natural surroundings. It is situated between the Tirilye Neighborhood and Eşkel in Mudanya, with the area of the ancient port's ruins being of particular interest. Archeological research conducted in the area has provided evidence of an ancient caravan route from Kapanca Port to Nilüfer. The Ketendere Stream, another historical feature, is located near Kapanca. Small vessels and boats would often seek refuge in this natural harbor to avoid unfavorable weather conditions.
The port is roughly a 30-minute car ride from Trilye. The journey can be challenging, especially during wet weather, as the roads become muddy. This necessitates the use of a 4x4 vehicle, although in dry conditions, any car can access the area.
Korsan Liman Koyu also features a beach, enveloped in a tranquil and peaceful environment, making it an ideal spot for camping. The beach offers a breathtaking view and serves as a starting point for several hiking and bicycle routes, providing ample recreational opportunities for visitors.
Despite its natural beauty, the beach has some cleanliness issues. Visitors have reported that the water can become dirty, particularly when it is windy from the north. The beach can also become crowded during the day.
Regarding amenities, camping facilities are available at the beach. However, visitors are urged to respect the natural environment and ensure they leave no litter behind.
Visitor reviews highlight the beach's calm and peaceful atmosphere, with its great nature and wonderful views being particularly appreciated. Many visitors also enjoy the camping and hiking opportunities, as well as the antique port. However, complaints are often made about the beach's cleanliness, with the water being described as dirty and litter being a common issue.
