Playa de la Hierbabuena

Playa de la Hierbabuena is a semi-urban beach situated in the municipality of Barbate, in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. This tranquil and serene beach is almost one kilometer in length and has a width of 70 meters. It is located between the Parque Natural de la Breña y Marismas del Barbate and the cliffs of Los Caños de Meca, bordering the port of Barbate.

The beach is known for its fine golden sand and moderate waves, with the surrounding cliffs and pine forests adding to its natural beauty. It is one of the last untouched sandy areas on the Cadiz coast, making it a peaceful and quiet destination ideal for those seeking relaxation and tranquility. Despite being a semi-urban beach, it remains uncrowded, even during the high season.

Playa de la Hierbabuena lacks infrastructure, with no facilities available for visitors. However, a beach bar, locally known as a 'chiringuito', is open during the summer months, offering food and drinks in a relaxed environment. It's important to note that the beach does not have access for disabled people.

The beach can be easily reached on foot or by car, with the nearest road being A-314, Vejer de la Frontera - Barbate. There is a parking facility available with a capacity of 50 to 100 spaces. Visitors are also recommended to park their vehicles at the Puerto Deportivo and start the itinerary from Playa de la Hierbabuena to Los Caños de Meca. This route begins with a path close to the road that ascends to the Torre del Tajo, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the coast, including the Barbate bay, Cabo de Gracia, and Africa. Public transportation is available for those who prefer not to drive.
