Plage de l'Océan

Plage de l'Océan is a remarkable beach located in the tranquil area of Cape Ferret, accessible via a ferry from Arcachon or by bike. The beach is known for its clean, clear sea water and is littered with sea shells, making it an ideal spot for children. It also features tidal pools that are safe for swimming.

The beach is fully exposed to the Atlantic and the Bay of Biscay, known for its storms, mostly in winter. This exposure results in powerful waves and strong currents, particularly at high tide, making it a popular spot for surfing. However, bathers are advised to pay attention to the flag system as the waves can be quite powerful.

The beach offers a great view and is a good fun at lower tide, although there is less space at the beach during high tide. Those with an interest in history will find the remains of World War II bunkers and gun emplacements, now brightly decorated with graffiti art, of interest.

Parking is available on the streets of Arcachon, with a maximum limit of 4 hours. As there are limited food options and no shops in the vicinity, visitors are advised to bring their own water and food. Despite the limited amenities, the beach is a great getaway where one can stroll for hours.
