Maidencombe Beach

Maidencombe Beach is a secluded bay located just off the Torquay to Teignmouth coast road. It can be accessed via Steep Hill, which leads directly downhill to the beach car park, and visitors must return uphill via Brim Hill. Both routes are well signposted. The beach offers beautiful views, with the Dorset coast visible on the horizon. The beach itself is quite small, with a mixture of sand and small pebbles. The water is noted for its clarity.

The beach is surrounded by natural beauty, including a mini waterfall and a variety of rocks. Visitors should be aware of potential rockfalls. The beach is also a great spot for hiking, with a public path connecting it to the next beach. This path is located next to the car park.

The beach is equipped with a council car park, which has a height restriction at the entrance and operates on a pay and display basis. The car park is quite small, so visitors are advised to arrive early. There are a number of steps leading down to the beach from the car park, making it inaccessible for wheelchairs.

Maidencombe Beach offers a range of amenities, including a cafe and public toilets, although these may be closed at certain times of the year or due to safety concerns. Water sports equipment, such as kayaks and paddle boards, can be hired at the beach. Despite these amenities, the beach is not typically crowded, offering a quiet and relaxing environment.

Please note that the walk to the beach is steep and may not be suitable for young children. However, the beach is an excellent spot for adults and teenagers, particularly those interested in kayaking or paddle boarding.
