Cala Màrmols

Cala Màrmols, located in the municipality of Santanyí on the island of Mallorca, is a picturesque cove renowned for its beauty. It is situated about 5 miles from the nearest port, Cala Figuera, and is accessible either by boat or by land. The cove itself is medium-sized, with a seabed of both sand and rock, and depths ranging from 3 to 5 meters. It is sheltered from various directions, including north, northeast, southwest, west, and northwest, making it an ideal location for boats to anchor. However, visitors are advised to anchor with care and adhere to environmental regulations to preserve the protected Posidonia meadows.

The beach, also known as Playa Marmols or Caló des Marmols, is nestled in a bay surrounded by 20-meter high cliffs. The beach is characterized by soft sand and is bordered by rocky slopes adorned with vegetation. The area also features some fishermen's huts. The beach measures 50 meters by 25 meters, and due to its remote location, it is considered a solitary beach, attracting a diverse array of visitors.

Accessing the beach requires a bit of effort due to its remote location. It can be reached either by a long hike of over five kilometers from Cap de ses Salines or by boat. The route along the rocky coast offers breathtaking landscapes, making the journey as rewarding as the destination. Visitors can park their vehicles near the lighthouse before embarking on the hike, but some routes pass through private property and trespassing is not advised. It's recommended to wear sports shoes for the rocky path and to carry a backpack to keep your hands free for climbing. Visitors should also bring plenty of drinking water, food, and sun protection as there are no amenities available at the beach.

Despite its remote location, the beach can get crowded, especially with boats anchoring close to the shore. There are no amenities such as sunbed rentals, showers, public toilets, restaurants/bars, lifeguards, or a promenade available at the beach. Furthermore, there is no parking available near the beach. Visitors can engage in activities such as anchoring boats, swimming, and hiking. The calm water and the beach's downward slope make it unsuitable for families. Dogs are not allowed at the beach, but nudism is permitted.

Visitor Reviews

Visitor reviews highlight the beauty and remoteness of the beach in Mallorca, praising it as one of the best and most beautiful on the island. The scenic hike to the beach, despite being long and somewhat challenging, is seen as worth it for the reward of the stunning cove. However, visitors complain about issues with litter, particularly plastic, in the water and the proximity of boats to the beach.
