Plage du Mûrier

The Plage du Mûrier is a naturally beautiful and tranquil beach located in the seaside town of Notre-Dame-de-Monts, in the Vendée region of France. It is situated approximately 1.2 kilometers from the town center and 400 meters south of it. Known for its preserved environment and imposing dunes, the beach is part of the Plages de la Vendée, a collection of beaches in the area.

The Plage du Mûrier is characterized by a slightly sloping profile and elements such as algae, pebbles, and seashells. Despite its proximity to the more lively Central Beach, it maintains a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a less crowded beach experience. It offers a calm and beautiful environment for visitors to enjoy, and it's a great spot for creating land art on the sand.

However, Plage du Mûrier is completely wild and does not have facilities or lifeguards. There are a pergola and a wooden bench popular among walkers and swimmers. On the beach, various activities can be enjoyed, including observing the A Tout Vent festival, where kites from around the world create a poetic choreography. Fishing is also permitted, and it is particularly popular for tellines.

Access to Plage du Mûrier is possible by car, bike, or on foot. Motorists can reach the beach via the forest road or the southern access of Central Beach, and there is a small free parking lot directly accessible from the beach, located just behind the dune. Cyclists and pedestrians can use the forest bike path and Central Beach to reach it.

Pets are welcome at Plage du Mûrier. Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1st to March 31st and must be kept on a leash. They are not allowed to swim from June 1st to September 30th between 9 am and 7 pm. Horses are also allowed on the beach from April 1st to September 30th, but not between 11 am and 7 pm.
