Patara Plajı

Patara Plajı is a sandy beach located in Turkey, offering a welcome respite from the rocky coves or platform-based beach clubs that dot the shore between Kas and Kalkan. It is one of the few sandy beaches in this part of the country. The beach stretches over a 7km area between Patara and the river Esen, with two easily accessible points at each end. Despite being a popular destination, a short walk can lead to a nearly deserted piece of beach even on a busy day.

The beach is flanked by the sea on one side, with a broad swath of sand dunes in the back, making it an ideal place to spend a day or two. Facilities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, a small cafeteria, and toilets are available at the Patara end of the beach. The rest of the beach remains undeveloped, preserving its natural beauty. Visitors can also explore the Patara historic site, which is included in the entrance fee.

Access to the beach from the river Esen side is free. There is an entrance fee for adults, with discounts available for children. Beach passes are also available for frequent visitors or larger groups. The beach is accessible by car, with parking included in the entrance fee. There are also taxi services and a shuttle bus to Kalkan for those without personal vehicles.

The beach is also home to a unique natural event: the release of baby turtles into the water. This provides a memorable experience for visitors, especially children. However, visitors are advised to be careful when swimming further out in the sea, as the currents can be strong.
