Platja de la Pixerota

Platja de la Pixerota is a serene and natural beach located in Mont-roig del Camp, Catalonia, near Cambrils. It stretches over one and a half kilometers in length and twenty meters in width. The beach is divided into two distinct areas: one with a natural landscape featuring reed vegetation and occasional ducks, and the other, narrower area, consisting of pebbles, which leads to a wider section of fine golden sand. The beach is known for its tranquility and moderate occupancy, making it an ideal spot for families and those seeking relaxation.

One of the unique features of Platja de la Pixerota is the presence of two bunkers, one at each end of the beach. These were defensive fortifications built by the government of the II Republic during the Spanish Civil War to protect against potential sea attacks. There are also a couple of ruined constructions near the beach that appear to be remnants of warfare.

Despite its wild and natural appearance, the beach offers basic amenities including toilets, lifeguards, and showers. On the beach, there is a refreshment kiosk that provides visitors with the convenience of purchasing refreshments during their visit, although it only accepts cash payments. There is also a beach bar for visitors to enjoy.

Access to Platja de la Pixerota is relatively easy, making it a popular destination for travelers, including those on long motorcycle rides. Despite its popularity, the beach maintains its serene atmosphere and is not usually crowded, allowing children to enjoy the sea waves without danger.

In terms of parking, there is a parking lot located in the middle of the beach. Some visitors may find the location of this parking lot inconvenient. The beach also offers the unique opportunity to camp nearby, further enhancing its appeal for those seeking a more immersive beach experience.
