Portalban

Portalban Beach, also known as Strand von Portalban, is a picturesque beach located in Delley-Portalban on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in the Freiburg region of Switzerland. It is celebrated for its natural beauty, fine sand, turquoise water, and grassy areas. The beach is shielded by reeds, which protect visitors from the wind, adding to its tranquil and tropical island atmosphere. Despite its relatively small size, the beach is often windy, causing the sand to blow around. The water at the beach is clear and crystal-like, and visitors may even spot some parrotfish.

The beach offers a diverse range of activities and amenities. It is a popular spot for kitesurfing and also features a beach volleyball court and a pontoon. For families, there is a playground for children to enjoy. The beach is also conveniently located near a marina, adding to the range of water-based activities available.

In terms of facilities, Portalban Beach is well-equipped. It has toilets and showers, a picnic area, and changing facilities. There is also a refreshment bar where visitors can grab a drink and a restaurant providing gastronomic delights. Equipment rental is available for those who wish to engage in various sports or games. However, visitors should note that disposable grills, pets, and bringing your own grill are not permitted on the beach.

Getting to Portalban Beach can be achieved by various modes of transport. By car, visitors can follow the Route du Port, with the beach located at the back on the left. Public transportation options include taking a bus from Avenches to the "Portalban, Dorf" stop, and then walking along the Route du Port to the end. Alternatively, visitors can arrive by boat from Estavayer-le-Lac or Neuchâtel.

Parking at the beach is convenient, with the nearest parking lot, Grèves du Lac, being a mere 2-minute walk from the beach. There are plenty of parking spaces available, but fees do apply.

Despite its popularity and reputation as one of the most beautiful beaches in Switzerland, Portalban Beach does not tend to be overly crowded with tourists. This allows visitors to truly relax and enjoy the beach's natural beauty and amenities.
