Praia do Porto Pim

Praia do Porto Pim, often referred to as Porto Pim, is a small beach nestled in the city of Horta, within the parish of Angústias. It is one of the few sandy beaches in the Açores. The beach's sand is volcanic in nature and spans approximately 350 meters in total length. The beach is nestled within the Natural Park of Faial Island, specifically in the Protected Landscape Area of Monte da Guia.

Praia do Porto Pim is renowned for its cleanliness, calmness, and shallow waters, making it a family-friendly destination. However, it is to be noted that during the winter, the beach can accumulate plastic trash due to windy conditions and waves washing it in from the ocean.

Praia do Porto Pim is a well-equipped beach that offers several amenities to its visitors. It boasts excellent shower and changing room facilities. For safety purposes, lifeguards are stationed at the beach. There are several bars and coffee shops located near the beach, providing a diverse range of refreshment options to beachgoers.

The beach is open to the public for bathing from June 15th through September 15th, during which period the Blue Flag is also raised. This flag is an indicator of the beach's high environmental and quality standards.

Despite its tranquil nature, Praia do Porto Pim can become dangerous when the wind changes, as this can bring in a large number of jellyfish, which can lead to burns upon contact.
