Ratzersdorfer See

Ratzersdorfer See is a scenic recreational area located in the northern outskirts of St. Pölten, Austria, in the district of Ratzersdorf. The lake is part of the larger sports and leisure paradise of St. Pölten, which is a few kilometers north of the city center. The artificial lake was created in the 1970s and covers 25 hectares, including the lake itself which is 6 hectares. The lake has a length of 600 meters and an average depth of 5.5 meters, situated at an elevation of 258 meters above sea level.

The lake is known for its cleanliness and is surrounded by a well-maintained beach, which is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. In the summer, the lake is a popular bathing spot and is the only designated bathing lake in St. Pölten according to the national water management plan. The beach is equipped with bathing jetties, a walking and cycling path, a designated nudist area, a surrounding forest, and various sports facilities such as beach volleyball courts and a basketball court. The location is also known for hosting occasional concerts, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the place.

The area also offers a wide range of gastronomy options. Known for its See Lounge, which provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, focusing on personal hospitality. The lounge offers a variety of food and drinks and aims to provide a stress-free and enjoyable experience for guests. In addition, there is a kiosk called Kiosk Pansky on the north side of the lake, which offers food and drinks during the warm months.

Ratzersdorfer See is easily accessible via the Bimbo-Binder-Promenade and is located near various cycling and running routes. Public transportation options, including LUP Linien 3 and 7, also serve the area. Parking facilities are available, with charges applicable from May 1st to August 31st. The parking areas can be identified by white rectangular signs with a green letter "P."

Despite its popularity, Ratzersdorfer See maintains a relaxed environment, making it a great place to enjoy with family. However, it is important to note that dogs are not allowed at Ratzersdorfer See from May 1st to September 30th.
