Sai Ree Beach, also known as Hat Sai Ree, is a well-liked destination located near Chumphon and 5 km south of Paradonpap Beach. The beach is a popular spot for day trips and picnics, particularly among the local Thai population. Despite its popularity, the beach can often be quite peaceful during weekdays, with larger crowds appearing on weekends.
The natural surroundings of Sai Ree Beach contribute to its charm. The beach is characterized by intriguing rock formations on the sand and offers views of the offshore islands. It is further surrounded by lush green vegetation, enhancing its natural beauty. However, it should be noted that the quality of the sand and water may not be comparable to those found on the beaches of the Andaman coast.
The beach offers a number of amenities for visitors. On weekends, beachfront restaurants are open, providing meals with views across to Ko Maphrao. These restaurants also rent out beach chairs, umbrellas, and inflated tires for bathing. Additionally, a shrine to the founder of the Thai Navy, the Prince of Chumphon, is located above a non-commissioned torpedo boat named "HTMS Chumphon" in the first part of the bay. A festival is held in his honor every year from December 19th to 25th.
Visitors can also enjoy a beautiful view of the coastline from Chao Muang Hill at the end of the road. There is also a nature reserve where hiking is possible. A path lined with botanical information is available, although all signs and information in the reserve are in the Thai language.
In terms of transportation, a songthaew service to Chumphon is supposed to be available, although its reliability may vary. It is also worth noting that local buses or taxis between the beach and the town may not always be readily available.
Despite its popularity, some visitors have reported that the beach may not always be well-maintained and can sometimes be quite dirty.
Sai Ree Beach amenities include loungers.
You can enjoy one of the restaurants at the beach while soaking up the sun.
Visitor reviews highlight the scenic beauty of the beach, with its interesting rock formations, views of nearby islands, and lush green surroundings. However, the beach itself is often described as not being well-maintained, with complaints about the cleanliness of the sand and water quality. Additionally, visitors express dissatisfaction with the lack of reliable transportation to and from the beach.
