Plage de Sainte Marie la Mer

Sainte-Marie-la-Mer, a family-friendly seaside resort on the Mediterranean coast, is a short distance from Perpignan and Canet en Roussillon and approximately 40 minutes from the Spanish border. The resort's primary attraction, Plage de Sainte Marie la Mer, is a clean, sandy beach lined with small pebbles, even at the seabed. Its sea is noted for its depth and cleanliness. The beach stretches along the coast from Sainte-Marie Plage to the port of Sainte-Marie, which can accommodate over 100 boats in its secure, fenced area.

The beach is supervised by lifeguards to ensure the safety of its visitors. Despite its charm, the beach is not excessively crowded, offering a peaceful spot for relaxation throughout both the summer and winter seasons.

For those seeking activities beyond the beach, the nearby Agora promenade, which extends along the seafront for several hundred meters, provides a variety of activities, summer markets, shops, bars, and beach restaurants. The Sourribes Square, located near the port, offers free access to sports equipment like exercise bikes and elliptical trainers. During summer, the square hosts open-to-all Zumba and gym tonic sessions led by a sports coach.

Parking near the beach is available, but height barriers may prevent larger vehicles, such as campervans, from parking. An Aire de camping car is also available, though it is located out of town, next to the main road. It is important to note that dogs are not allowed on the beach.
