Spiaggia Sataria

Spiaggia Sataria is a beach situated on the southern coast of Pantelleria, an island in Italy. It is located along a perimeter road that extends from the island's capital to Scauri. The beach is recognized for its close proximity to the Grotta di Sataria, a large and historic cave that is believed to be the site where Ulysses encountered Goddess Calypso according to mythology.

The Grotta di Sataria is renowned for its thermal waters which have been popular since ancient times for alleviating rheumatic pains and arthritis. The water in the cave can reach up to 40°C and it flows into two pools, one of which communicates with the sea. The cave, however, is currently in a neglected state and entry is restricted due to the risk of collapse.

Spiaggia Sataria is characterized by its sheltered cove, which offers protection from the sun and wind, making it a point of interest for visitors. The beach also features a natural 'little pool' where visitors can swim and relax. Despite the presence of abandoned masonry structures and concrete tanks, which some find detracts from the beach's overall beauty, it remains a popular destination.

The beach is easily accessible, with a staircase leading down from the perimeter road. However, parking facilities are limited, with space available for only around four to five cars before the steps. Despite these limitations, Spiaggia Sataria's natural beauty and historical significance continue to attract visitors.
