Seebad Illmitz

Seebad Illmitz is a popular beach located in the town of Illmitz, in Austria's Burgenland region. It sits on the Neusiedler See, a lake that covers an area of 320 square kilometers and has an elevation of 115 meters. Due to its shallow depth, averaging around 1.5 to 1.8 meters, the lake is not suitable for diving, but it is an excellent spot for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing.

The beach is well-known for its range of amenities and recreational activities, making it a family-friendly destination. It boasts a large sunbathing area, two children's playgrounds, two beach volleyball courts, a mini-golf course, and a workout area known as Muscle Beach. In addition, visitors can engage in sailing, rowing, and pedal boating, with rental services available for those who do not own equipment.

For those interested in birdwatching, Seebad Illmitz is a hotspot in the region, known for its diverse bird species. The beach is located in a nature reserve, further enhancing its appeal to nature lovers.

Seebad Illmitz also offers a variety of dining options. There are two restaurants, a pizzeria, a buffet, and a beach bar available to cater to hungry and thirsty guests.

The beach has a gravel and sandy ground, providing a comfortable spot for sunbathing. Shaded spots are also available for those seeking relief from the sun. There are changing cabins and restrooms on the premises for visitors' convenience, and parking spaces are available.

Access to the beach is facilitated by the B10 bike path, and horse-drawn carriage rides and excursions to the Neusiedler See - Seewinkel National Park are offered. The beach is open from May 1st to October 26th, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Outside these hours, the beach is freely accessible.

Visitors can gain free entry to Seebad Illmitz and free parking from April 1, 2023, to October 1, 2023, with the Burgenland Card. Without this card, the price for adults is €3 for entry and €3 for parking per day.

Despite its popularity, Seebad Illmitz maintains a tranquil atmosphere, particularly during off-peak seasons in winter and early spring, when entry to the beach is free of charge. During these times, the beach offers a serene environment with beautiful views and fewer visitors.
