Stuibenfälle

The Stuibenfälle, located in the Naturparkregion Reutte in Tirol, is a popular natural attraction known for its cascading waterfalls and idyllic hiking trails. The area is characterized by clear turquoise water, multi-tiered waterfalls, and surrounding river and forest trails that offer a scenic and serene experience. The main attraction, the Stuibenfälle waterfalls, is accessible via the Hermannsteig trail which begins at the Umspannwerke der Elektrizitätswerke Reutte. This trail passes smaller waterfalls and leads to the Großen Stuibenfall, the largest waterfall in the area. From there, the trail continues uphill to the Kanzel and then to a smaller waterfall. At the upper end of the Stuibenfälle, a bridge leads visitors to the Kleinen Plansee. The return trip can be made via the Ministersteig trail, offering panoramic views of the Stuibenfälle and the Reuttener Talkessel. Visitors can also opt for a round trip hike to the Stuibenfälle viewpoint, starting at the Seespitze ferry landing point. This moderate difficulty hike, located in Heiterwang am See, passes the Frauenbrünnele water source and ends at the Stuibenfälle viewpoint. For those interested in extending their hike, the Plansee, the second largest lake in Tirol, is accessible from the Kleinen Plansee. This lake offers scheduled boat rides and swimming opportunities on warm days. Dining options are available along the lake, with local cheese production and a cheese dairy present at the lower end of the lake. Parking is available at the beginning of the Hermannsteig trail, behind the Metallwerk Plansee production halls. Additional parking can be found at the Hotel Fischer am See, which also serves as a starting point for the hike to the Stuibenfälle viewpoint. Public transportation options include the summer and hiking bus of Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, Postbus, and regional trains. While the site lacks amenities such as bathrooms or trash cans, the trails are well-maintained and stable, providing an enjoyable hiking experience. However, visitors are advised to bring their own sun and rain protection, sturdy shoes, hiking poles, and water. Despite the occasional presence of rafters in the area, the clear water, beautiful waterfalls, and scenic trails make Stuibenfälle a worthwhile visit.
