Tauchplatz Rütenen is a popular diving spot located in Beckenried, Switzerland. It is situated near a recreational area and is known for its serene environment and natural beauty. The diving spot is nestled in a park featuring bathing meadows and a grill area, making it an ideal spot for picnics and outdoor activities, especially during the summer months.
The underwater landscape at Tauchplatz Rütenen is quite diverse, offering a variety of experiences for divers. The diving site features interesting rock walls, sunken statues, and an old conveyor belt. At a depth of around 12m, there is a rock ledge that divers can follow to a gradually steeper wall. Further exploration leads to an old sunken conveyor belt at a depth of 14-18m, and a diving bell at around 13m. The site is also known for its regular sightings of underwater fauna, including toads and frogs in the spring and seagrass meadows in the summer.
The diving spot is suitable for both beginner and experienced divers, but certain areas have strong currents and significant depths, making them more suitable for experienced divers. Unfortunately, a section of the diving wall is currently closed due to the risk of landslides. This restricted area is marked with signs and ropes to prevent divers from entering.
Access to Tauchplatz Rütenen is relatively straightforward. Visitors can drive from Luzern to Beckenried and take the last exit before the Seelisbergtunnel. Upon reaching Beckenried, a sharp turn to the right at the lakeshore leads to Rütenenstrasse. Following this road for approximately 2km brings visitors to the recreational area "Rütenen".
The site offers ample parking spaces, however, it is advised not to drive down to the harbor. Parking at the site is subject to a fee. There are multiple entry points into the water, but the easiest is at the second staircase on the shore, below the hill with the sculpture.
In terms of amenities, Tauchplatz Rütenen provides toilets, fresh drinking water, and a snack stand. While the diving spot can get crowded during the summer, it is generally quieter in the afternoons. Despite its popularity, the beach is well-maintained and clean, contributing to its reputation as a tranquil and serene spot for divers and beachgoers alike.
