Therma Beach is a unique and underrated beach known for its rocky environment and underground volcanic activity. This natural phenomenon causes the water to feel cold initially, but after a minute or two, it warms up, providing a hot tub-like experience. The beach is divided into two parts: a cove accessible under the road bridge just prior to Therma, and a platform with a small beach at Therma itself.
The cove is particularly suitable for small children due to its gentle slope. It also offers opportunities for snorkeling, with some fish inhabiting the area. The main attraction, however, is the annual free diving competition held from the floating platform.
Both the cove and the platform area have a cafe offering cold drinks, ice cream, and simple food. However, visitors are advised to bring their own beverages and snacks if they plan to explore the small path along the coast, which offers beautiful views and picnic spots. This path can be accessed through a little gate on the stairs.
Visitors should be aware that the beach is often confused with another location on Kos, and the photos tagged at this location may not always represent the actual Therma Beach on Kalymnos.
You can enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the bars situated on the beach.
You can enjoy one of the restaurants at the beach while soaking up the sun.
Visitor reviews highlight the unique beauty of Therma beach, particularly its rocky environment and the warm water due to underground volcanic activity. Many visitors also appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful coastal views. However, some visitors complain about the lack of hot water and the misleading photos tagged at this location.
