Tristacher See Strandbad

Tristacher See Strandbad, located in the valley of Tristach south of Lienz, Austria, is a well-known bathing lake. Nestled within the scenic Lienzer Dolomites mountain range, it is the only bathing lake in the Osttirol region. The lake, named after the nearby village of Tristach, offers an idyllic setting with its clean, clear water and sandy beach. During the summer, the water temperature is quite comfortable, reaching around 24°C.

The beach at Tristacher See Strandbad is well-equipped with a range of amenities to cater to the needs of its visitors. These include a restaurant, a playground for children, and dressing rooms for securely storing belongings for a fee. In addition to these, the beach also provides toilets and showers for the convenience of its visitors. To enhance the recreational experience, the beach area also features a shaded walking path around the lake, a beach volleyball court, and a diving tower for sports enthusiasts. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and visitors can enjoy refreshments at a terrace café.

The bathing season at Tristacher See Strandbad generally starts in early June. To reach the lake, visitors can use Regiobus Lienz (Line 1 and 2) from Lienz or the Bäderbus from Tristach. Though reaching the lake might involve a bit of an uphill walk or bicycle ride, the natural charm of the location makes the effort worthwhile.

Parking is available at Tristacher See Strandbad, albeit for a fee. There is also a camping site available during the summer months. Despite some contention among visitors regarding the parking fee, especially among those with season tickets, many continue to visit the beach, drawn by its natural beauty and the facilities it offers.
