Plage du Troc

Plage du Troc is a small, picturesque beach located in the town of Banyuls-sur-Mer, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. This beach, though lesser-known among tourists, is a popular spot for locals and residents of the nearby Troc Pinell housing development.

The beach is a narrow cove, measuring less than 50 meters in length, and is characterized by its pebbly and rocky terrain. Despite the ruggedness of the beach, it offers a beautiful view of the Cap du Troc and the coast of Port Vendres. Its clear waters and interesting marine life make it an attractive spot for those seeking a serene environment.

Access to Plage du Troc can be a bit challenging, especially for those unfamiliar with the area. From the port of Banyuls, one can follow the D914 road for 600 meters and turn left at the Troc Pinell housing development. There are pedestrian access points by climbing over the wall, but this route can be risky. A safer and easier route to the beach is to continue on the D914 road for a kilometer, then turn left onto a dirt road indicated by an OTV sign.

Parking at Plage du Troc is a bit distant from the beach itself. There are some parking spaces near the OTV sign, but visitors should be prepared for a walk of approximately 600 meters from the parking lot to the cove.

Despite its natural beauty, Plage du Troc is not usually crowded, making it a peaceful retreat for visitors. However, the beach lacks specific amenities and activities. There is a thalassotherapy center nearby, but no facilities or services are directly available on the beach. Visitors are advised to exercise caution when swimming, especially near the cliffs. Suitable footwear is also recommended due to the stony nature of the beach.
