Tropea Beach

Tropea Beach is a picturesque coastal area situated near the town of Tropea in the southern Italian region of Calabria. Often referred to as the "Jewel of Calabria" or "La Costa degli Dei" (the Coast of the Gods), the beach is renowned for its natural beauty and tranquility.

The beach is characterized by its gently shelving white sands, calm and crystal-clear waters that display shades of blue and turquoise, and dramatic cliffs. These cliffs, adorned with ancient dwellings, enhance the beach's aesthetic appeal and provide a unique backdrop for photographs. The beach's serene atmosphere is occasionally enlivened by the sight of numerous kites, some in the form of dragons or octopuses, fluttering in the wind.

Tropea Beach is also noted for its natural features such as the large rocks that adventurous visitors can climb for breathtaking views. However, a section of the island collapsed into the sea in 2023, impacting the unique beach under the rock. Restoration efforts for this area are anticipated.

Despite its popularity, Tropea Beach has retained its charm without becoming overly commercialized, unlike other Italian regions such as Amalfi. It offers various activities and facilities for visitors, and is an ideal spot for those seeking a serene beach experience. The descent to the water is convenient, and in the evenings, visitors can catch a glimpse of the Stromboli volcano.
