The beach is enveloped by the massive Yeagarup Dunes, a unique land-locked mobile dune system that towers above the surrounding karri forest, and the serene Yeagarup Lake. Adding to the beach's charm is the curved boardwalk that stretches 30 meters into the lake, providing visitors with a captivating view of the landscape.
Reaching Yeagarup Beach can be an adventure on its own due to the challenging terrain. The journey starts from the Leaning Marri campground and requires a four-wheel drive vehicle. To ensure a smoother ride, visitors are advised to deflate their tires to 10-12 psi. The route is signposted and leads through a one-lane forest and sandy terrain, which can be bumpy with unexpected dips. Therefore, securing loads is essential. Upon arrival at the beach, marking one's path is advised to facilitate an easy return trip.
Once at Yeagarup Beach, visitors can engage in a variety of activities. The beach is popular for fishing, especially during the salmon run. Despite the ocean's roughness, the adjacent Warren River creates flat lakes around it that are suitable for swimming during the summer. However, visitors should be cautious of sink sand in these areas.
Camping is another favored activity at Yeagarup Beach. There are plenty of beachfront spots available towards the south, near the river mouth, where visitors can set up camp. However, as there are no waste disposal facilities, visitors are responsible for taking their rubbish with them upon leaving.
Yeagarup Beach also offers basic amenities, including toilets. For those who wish to explore the dunes, it's important to note that trailers, including caravans, camper trailers, and boat trailers, are not allowed due to the steep ascent through soft sand. Walking in the soft sand can be strenuous, so bringing enough water and being mindful of passing vehicles is recommended. For those who prefer an organized tour, there are four-wheel drive trips through the dunes available. Visitors are also advised to plan their visit and consider traveling with a personal location beacon (PLB) for emergencies.
In addition to its natural attractions, Yeagarup Beach holds significant archaeological and cultural value. The Minang and Bibbulman people, the traditional owners of D'Entrecasteaux National Park, have a long history of occupation in the area dating back thousands of years. This connection to the past adds another layer of depth to the experience of visiting Yeagarup Beach.
