Lido di Caslano

Lido di Caslano is a scenic beach situated in the Swiss town of Caslano. It nestles at an elevation of 272 meters above sea level, providing visitors with breathtaking views. The beach is found in the Malcantone region, on the shores of Lake Lugano, and is surrounded by the Monte Caslano mountain.

This beach is not just a place for relaxation and water activities, but also a haven for nature lovers. It boasts a rich variety of botanical species endemic to the Ticino region. The protected area features around 600 plant species and over 150 species of moss. Additionally, the beach has geological significance, displaying various types of rocks from different geological eras.

To reach Lido di Caslano, visitors can start their journey from the Caslano train station. A 15-minute walk along the road towards the center of Caslano and the lake will lead them to the beach. The route offers several dining options along the lake. The trail towards the beach begins near two traditional restaurants, known locally as Grottis. From there, hikers can take the panoramic path that circles the peninsula. The trail offers stunning views of Lake Lugano and Caslano, and leads to the summit of Monte Caslano. From the summit, hikers can take the wide forest road back to the Grottis and then follow the downhill path towards the lake and back to Caslano.

Despite its small size, Lido di Caslano is a popular destination among locals and tourists. The beach can get crowded quickly due to its prime lakefront location. However, visitors can expect clean amenities, including toilets. For those arriving by car, parking is available near the beach but it is a paid service. Visitors should note that the water at the beach has a distinctive smell which may influence their perception of the beach's cleanliness.
