Grawa Waterfall

Grawa Waterfall is an impressive natural landmark located in the Stubaital valley in Tyrol, Austria, approximately 15 km from Neustift im Stubaital and 1 km from the Stubai Glacier. As one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Austria and one of the widest in the East Alps, it was declared a natural monument in 1979.

This waterfall is integrated into the Stubai WildWaterPark and the WildWaterTrail, both designed to highlight the most stunning water features in the valley. The waterfall is freely accessible to the public at all times and is a popular spot for ice climbers during the winter season.

Visitors can admire the waterfall from an alpine pasture located underneath the Glacier Road at 1,530 m above sea level, near the Grawa Mountain Hut, a popular rest point. A lower panoramic platform, which can be reached within a 15-minute walk, offers a fantastic view of the rushing Sulzbach brook. For those seeking a more challenging hike, there's a trail leading to an upper platform, offering a breathtaking view of the waterfall.

The Stubai WildWaterTrail provides a round hike to the Grawa Waterfall that can be completed in 40 minutes, while the full trail covers a distance of 9.6 km and takes approximately 5 hours to complete. The best time to visit the waterfall and the trail is between June and September, during the summer months.

Grawa Waterfall is also accessible by bus 590, followed by an easy one-hour downhill trail. The waterfall and its surroundings are known for their energetic and tranquil atmosphere, making it a sought-after destination for those seeking both adventure and relaxation.

The area is stroller-friendly up to the waterfall, making it a suitable destination for families with young children. For those seeking a more challenging experience, there are hiking trails that lead up and over the waterfall. These trails are not stroller-friendly and require a higher level of fitness.

Parking is available at Grawa Waterfall. Alternatively, visitors seeking a more immersive experience can park further away and enjoy a longer hike. Despite its popularity, the waterfall maintains a serene environment, offering a perfect getaway for those who enjoy walking and appreciating the beauty of nature.
