Portes Beach

Portes Beach, Astros is a serene coastal spot situated south of the town of Astros, in the region of Portes of Meligou. The beach is easily accessible, being a short 3-minute drive or a 10-minute bike ride from the center of Astros. The journey to the beach includes a segment of dirt road that is in good condition.

The beach was previously the outlet of the now inactive lake Moustou. It is known for its distinctive natural features, including a combination of thick sand and pebbles and deep, cool water. These traits make Portes Beach an ideal location for engaging in various water sports and activities.

Portes Beach is also notable for its surrounding landscape, adorned with many eucalyptus trees that offer visitors a natural shade. Despite the abundance of trees, it may be beneficial for visitors to bring an umbrella as some areas of the beach lack tree shade.

In terms of amenities, the beach comes with a canteen where visitors can purchase refreshments such as coffee, fizzy drinks, and ice-creams. However, the availability of the canteen can be inconsistent, so visitors are advised to bring their own water and other necessities.

Despite its somewhat secluded location, Portes Beach is not typically crowded and is suitable for children, making it a popular destination for families. The beach does not have a dedicated parking area, so visitors should plan accordingly.
