Strandbad Loretto

Strandbad Loretto is a picturesque beach situated in Klagenfurt, Austria, on a small peninsula in the eastern bay of Lake Wörthersee. Adjacent to Schloss Maria Loretto, the beach is a favorite destination for families seeking relaxation, especially during the summer months. Its park-like landscape and location near a castle add to its charm.

The beach is characterized by five long bridges that extend into the lake, providing ample space for sunbathing and swimming. A separate area is designated for non-swimmers, making it an ideal spot for young children to play in the water. Older children and teenagers can enjoy jumping into the lake from the diving board. Additionally, there is a playground for the little ones.

Strandbad Loretto is also renowned for its large grassy area, spanning 6,000 square meters, where numerous trees provide shade, making it a preferred spot for families with younger children. The beach's soft grass and clean water, often compared to the sea in terms of quality, contribute to its popularity. Despite its smaller size compared to other baths, the beach offers ample space, making it a great place for spending time with friends.

Visitors can also indulge in various water activities such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), with the peninsula being known as one of the best SUP spots in the East Bay. A kiosk on the beach offers snacks, ice cream, and beverages, providing a quick refuel option for visitors.

Strandbad Loretto is easily accessible by car and bike. A large parking lot is available for those traveling by car. However, due to limited parking spaces on the peninsula, it is recommended to travel by bike. A bike path leads directly from the city center of Klagenfurt along the Lend Canal to the beach.

The beach is not overly crowded, offering a relaxed and enjoyable experience. However, it tends to get busier during the summer months, particularly in May and September. Despite this, Strandbad Loretto maintains its serene and calm environment, making it an ideal spot for both families and singles.
