Strandbad Wiedehorn

Strandbad Wiedehorn is a scenic lakeside beach nestled in the municipality of Egnach, Switzerland. This beach is located on the shores of Lake Constance and offers a tranquil atmosphere complemented by its picturesque natural surroundings.

Strandbad Wiedehorn boasts a unique combination of a stone shoreline, a grassy sunbathing area, a long pier extending into the lake, and a floating platform. This setup ensures visitors have easy access to the water. However, the presence of seaweed in the lake may sometimes pose a slight challenge to swimmers.

The beach is family-friendly, offering a children's paddling pool complete with a sunshade, and a playground. For sports enthusiasts, a beach volleyball court is available. Visitors can also enjoy the use of a barbecue area, making it an ideal location for picnics or family gatherings. The beach is also equipped with changing rooms and showers for the convenience of its patrons.

Adjacent to Strandbad Wiedehorn is the Seehorn camping site, which remains open from March to the end of October. This camping site provides spaces for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, making it an ideal destination for camping enthusiasts.

Strandbad Wiedehorn operates with specific opening hours that vary depending on the season. During the pre-season and post-season, the beach is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and during the peak season, which includes the school summer holidays, the beach is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Outside of these official opening hours, the beach remains open to the public and free of charge until midnight, but without lifeguard supervision.

There is an admission fee for entry during the specified opening hours. However, local residents can enjoy discounted rates for a season pass. Despite the popularity of Strandbad Wiedehorn, especially during the summer and on weekends, the beach often maintains a quiet and comfortable atmosphere.

Strandbad Wiedehorn is easily accessible by public transportation. Visitors can get there by train to Egnach and then walk approximately 1,000 meters to reach the beach and camping site. Alternatively, there is a bus stop called Egnach Wiedehorn near the beach. For those who prefer cycling, the beach is located along the skate and bike path around Lake Constance. For visitors who choose to drive, free parking is available at the camping site.
