Playa de Vallina

Playa de Vallina is a secluded beach in the municipality of Cudillero, specifically located in the area of Oviñana (Valdredo). This picturesque beach is recognized for its natural beauty, offering a harmonious blend of sea, streams, small waterfalls, and eroded rocks. The beach extends to a length of approximately 1 kilometer, although it isn't excessively wide. It is primarily composed of light-colored sand interspersed with pebbles of varying sizes, which may make it slightly uncomfortable for some visitors.

The path to the beach begins with a detour from the N-632 road leading to Oviñana. Before reaching the local church, there is a left turn that brings you to a small clearing. From this point, a dirt road leads directly to the beach. The journey to the beach from this spot can be completed with a 15-minute walk. However, the road is unpaved, narrow, and sloping, which may not be suitable for all vehicles.

There is no parking available directly at the beach. Visitors are advised to leave their cars in the village or in the designated parking area on the road before reaching the path. This parking area can accommodate around 6-7 cars. Alternatively, there is another parking area that can fit about 10 cars.

Playa de Vallina is delimited by the Vivigo River and is adorned with two restored 18th-century mills located next to a stream. There's also a small wooden bridge near the mills, adding to the rustic charm of the area. Small waterfalls can be seen, even in the summer, and beautiful eroded rocks are visible on the west side of the beach.

Despite being somewhat remote, Playa de Vallina is perfect for long walks, with forests of eucalyptus trees flanking the path leading to the beach. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution as the sea can sometimes be dangerous and the beach lacks certain amenities such as fountains, showers, and toilets. Nonetheless, the unique blend of beach and nature that Playa de Vallina offers makes it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a tranquil and scenic beach experience.

Visitor Reviews

Visitor reviews highlight the natural beauty of the beach, with its mix of sea, streams, small waterfalls, and eroded rocks. The beach's size, ideal for long walks, and the presence of old mills add to its charm. However, visitors complain about the uncomfortable small stones on much of the beach, the potentially dangerous sea, lack of beach services, and its distance from urban centers.
